six days ago we discovered the USB controller on our PC has seemingly totally failed
USB 2, USB 3, front panel, back panel, doesn't matter: it supplies power, but it doesn't recognise anything connected whatsoever. can't connect a mouse, keyboard, or anything else
we now have two options:
assume this is a sign of impending doom and urgently work towards a full-system replacement. that motherboard has been in there for 8 years but isn't secured properly to the enclosure. it'll die someday we think
just buy a cheap usb pci-e card? π€π€
βwait how do you know the USB is the problem if you can't use input peripherals at allβ
we have long had that PC configured so it can boot with no keyboard connected, we have Remote Desktop set up and use it regularly, and the Ethernet port is still working fine :)
@hikari huh well done
