so fucked up that Ibanez is called that because they used to import guitars made by a Spanish guy called Ibañez and then when they started doing their own guitars they stripped the ~ off the n and changed it to have the world's worst white guy pronunciation, eye-ba-knees
particularly funny is that Ibanez — or rather, Hoshino Gakki — is a Japanese company, so this isn't just a white guy pronunciation. it's a Japanese idea of a white guy pronunciation. would the opposite of Orientalism be… Occidentalism? lmao

• Ibáñez, not Ibañez
• by the time Hoshino Gakki were importing Spanish-made guitars, the original Salvador Ibáñez had died, so they were instead guitars made by the company he had formed with his sons, Salvador Ibáñez é Hijos (é Hijos means “& Sons”)
