jump to expanded postThe future of the Linux desktop can look like this.
Let's build it!

uhh, the table is called \
I forgot to escape it on fedi

I threw the loss32 site together quickly to make it more likely people might find us during Congress… but now that I've announced it, I have to deliver something.
I hope to ship some initial “v0.0.1” proof-of-concept thing in January. It'll probably be something you add to your /etc/apt/sources.list on Debian and then you'll be able to sudo apt install loss32-desktop-environment and get a loss32 option (alongside KDE, GNOME, etc) on the login screen that has a WINE desktop environment with all the ReactOS apps in there. And that release will be accompanied by a list of like 100 different missing and broken things that need fixing, and hopefully this'll inspire people.
@hikari imagine how useful this could be keeping users safe from windows 11, without them needing to uproot their entire software ecosystem!
