jump to expanded posttried a bunch of different basses at a music store today
there was an Epiphone EB-0 and it looks π€ with that SG design but it had near-unusably bad EMI problems and it sounded β¦ not all that great. really wanted to love it but couldn't
there was also a Yamaha i kinda likedβ¦
then i tried a Fender MIM P-Bass and i started to feel oh this is fun
then i tried a Squier Classic Vibe Jazz Bass and (once it was actually in fucking tune) i was like
oh hell yeah this is how a bass is supposed to feel and sound
if it was 5-string i'd've walked out with it
did briefly try a 5-string that wasn't our jam overall but it did unfortunately confirm that if we get a bass it should probably be a 5-string because regardless of how difficult it is we have to try to learn That avemuji song intro π it's too fun
it's fucked up how the fit and finish and overall look on Squier CVs can be so much better than MIM Fenders. if it weren't for the neck gloss (which this time i found pretty fine actually) there'd be no reason to go for the latter, which was 25% more expensive despite being used!
fender jazz bass another example of leo getting it right the second time
frankly i don't know how gibson are gonna stay in business with their current strategy with epiphone man. the youth are all gonna go to harley benton and chibson. you gotta give them some reason to give you money and you're making FMIC look downright saintly
noooo the classic vibe jazz bass sunburst colour is 4-string only they can't do this ;w;
