jump to expanded postrewatching tsubasa cat and i think it's interesting that hanekawa-senpai starts that off by telling araragi-senpai that her dad has hit her, and in her twisted “explanation” of why that was “reasonable”, she says something so horrible that normally you'd respond by… slapping her
like, in the emotional logic that anime characters tend to follow, the horrible way she's justifying to herself that her dad hit her, that way she is making herself unimportant and deserving of abuse, is something that would normally be followed with a friendly slap to the face
(like the one i give to numachi at one point)
but you know. her dad has hit her. that's not an option for araragi-senpai in that moment. he's not the slapping type anyway… and i don't think we think that violence is a good way to solve emotional matters, generally…

gods this episode is a feast for the eyes, been too long since we last watched it (as you might imagine, we've seen suruga monkey several times, but tsubasa cat maybe twice in our whole life). might need to post some clips later…
araragi-senpai is so kind it almost kills the girls who interact with him. i don't mean in the bodily harm sense, i mean in the emotional one. hanekawa-senpai must've gone through something similar to me…
