(the thing I was leaving unsaid is that, perhaps unsurprisingly, the star guitarist girl voiced by Sawashiro Miyuki is also a girl our brain is vulnerable to, and in fact is probably the one writing this very tweet. I don't feel like updating the pfp and display name right now…)
Angel Beats is a rare series that is both a band anime and not a band anime simultaneously. It is heavy on musical theming (the show really wants to be about music); it has a band in it; and the band member characterisation is among the strongest, but it's also about other things
In this respect there is something close to home for us in it, because music has become a huge part of our life (in particular because of our close friends who are also musicians), but it is not our entire life. It is mine, though.
