jump to expanded postsubmitted our profile for approval for GitHub Sponsors again, I guess this means in a few days it'll be possible for people to give us money once again (this was last possible a whole 2 years ago)
I don't think we're the most deserving possible recipients of donations, it's more or less a luxury. At the same time: well, we want to spend a considerable fraction of our time building open-source software that is useful to people, and would like to have time and space to do so
For the record, we have time and space to do things currently because of having spent a year employed writing machine-learning-related code. We quit that job a year ago to avoid it driving us insane. We're currently coasting off savings, but our partner is employed.
Our increasingly obvious weirdness and mental illness makes me wonder if we could hold down a normal job again. Maybe we could, and we could live a little, but I think we would have to give up on any βworld-changingβ OSS project dreams. So we want to monetise our interestingness.
That's the calculus for you. That's why there'll be a donate button on our website at some point, and there will be one on the loss32 site once the proof-of-concept is out finally. I hope that's interesting.
Oh, that was quick: https://github.com/sponsors/hikari-no-yume
I don't feel all that optimistic about our ability to fulfill any particular promises right now, honestly, and I'd rather people not expect too much from us. But if you want to give us money anyway, now you have the option to.
