I don't wanna deal with this shit man. it's painful on several dimensions
part of the problem is we have a deliberately gatekeepy approach to development. we don't help beginners with it because it's an inherently beginner-unfriendly project to contribute to and we only have so much time and energy. this leaves the stubborn kids with only bad options
but you know, even in an ideal world where we had the time, energy, will and inclination to help these people learn to contribute, and where they actually had the patience and ability to succeed at it, they all already hate us official devs anyway for stupid reasons

we think we have some ideas, but they're not fully baked yet
