reader, I hope you never quit your job to write a video game emulator for a novel platform and then have to spend the rest of your life dealing with literal children making myriad forks of it that plagiarise your work so they can release it before you and add AI slop on top
I don't wanna deal with this shit man. it's painful on several dimensions
part of the problem is we have a deliberately gatekeepy approach to development. we don't help beginners with it because it's an inherently beginner-unfriendly project to contribute to and we only have so much time and energy. this leaves the stubborn kids with only bad options
but you know, even in an ideal world where we had the time, energy, will and inclination to help these people learn to contribute, and where they actually had the patience and ability to succeed at it, they all already hate us official devs anyway for stupid reasons
@hikari we've been trying to have some conversations about why this phenomenon keeps happening
we think we have some ideas, but they're not fully baked yet
