beyond the obvious benefits, I wonder if we like walking and running so much because they tend to put our brain in the default mode network… we're told some people do anything they can to avoid it, but I think we're the opposite, spending all day avoiding it makes us feel awful

this is especially the case if we're avoiding it by spending all our time glued to our phone or aimlessly browsing the web on a computer, but it is sometimes also the case if we spend the entire day on purely “productive” activities. we don't enjoy losing sight of the self…
