LLMs as we know them will not take over the world, because they do not know and cannot learn
I wonder how many years it will be before someone invents AI
“simply have someone read every book that's ever been written, then they'll be intelligent” is a terrifyingly simplistic view of knowledge
@hikari I wanna say 15 to 20 years, but not for real, that's just a guess at how long it will take for some new invention to get labelled "AI" based on the frequency and duration of previous AI winters.
Big caveat though, previous AI winters were caused by very small groups of people hating it - specifically funding committees. No idea whether an AI winter caused by the entire public hating it will last a lot longer.
