jump to expanded posttrip report: contact lenses
route of administration: direct application to eyeball
onset of action: immediate? (<1s)
duration: unclear
immediately I notice unusual problems of eye co-ordination. also, the entire visual field is much sharper, yet without the usual dilated pupils
strange psychological effects: I look down and see what appear to be my glasses on the chair, folded neatly, perfectly sharp in my vision. this is a very strange qualia that I can't recall ever previously experiencing in my adult life
our face in the mirror doesn't look quite as we remember; possible dissociative effect?
route of administration required hours of practice over several weeks and carries health risks without hygiene precautions. it is not for the fainthearted. unlike most substances it is not metabolised away and must be manually removed, with similar care, for the effect to cease.
subjectively I find myself somewhat overwhelmed by the amount of detail filling my visual field, both indoors and outdoors, and occasionally disoriented during movement, but in general I seem to remain in control. likely higher dosage required
I seem fascinated by visual details of nature that would not normally catch my attention
I keep getting caught off-guard by how, when I glance to the side without turning my head, the world remains sharp
although discreet at a distance, close-up inspection of the eye will reveal one is under the influence⦠caution advised
advantage of a contact lens versus glasses: stays clean inside the eye
disadvantage of contact lens versus glasses: visual disturbances are much more annoying when they are transient rather than persistent, and a lens in direct contact with your eye is prone to transient issues
