jump to expanded postLA Noire is such a game. it's supposedly a detective game but you spend half your time driving and it behaves exactly like GTA, including the game rewarding you for property destruction and car theft
βͺhowever you can't run over random civilians π the game gets upset at you if you do that. the cops are meant to protect and serve the public or somethingβ¬
he probably gets suspended with pay, or something
god, i'm really liking this now that i've picked it up again. it's so, immersive (sorry). just lose yourself in this beautifully recreated 1940s Los Angeles. i don't know how realistic it is, but it feels great and the Γ¦sthetics are on point
my favourite thing about games is always the worlds they can take me to, and this is a really comfy world to step into, even if it's full of violent misogyny and i'm playing a cop
even the driving. especially the driving! once you realise the game tolerates you breaking almost every rule of the road, it can be pretty relaxing. i booted up this game the other day because i was tired and wanted something comfortable to play, and this game is pretty laid-back
just now i was doing that thing that's so routine in this game: walking in and out of Central. walking is very smooth and neat in this game, it feels good. you can hear the clacking of Phelps's shoes against the hard wood floor, echoing down the hallway. it's very pleasing.
apparently, the posts in my L.A. Noire thread only show up on some people's timelines, and only if I retweet them????
okay i was unfair, this segment is extremely Mirror's Edge. i mean it's not parkour, but climbing pipes, navigating scaffolding, tightrope walking and jumping short gaps, that's Mirror's Edge to me

okay the way your time at each desk ends with some ridiculous internal politics stitch-up is pretty annoying
"You'll be calling Richard Nixon a crook next."
lmao
i did not expect a p.o.v./playable-character switch
oh i like how this is turning around
this game is sometimes so much higher-stakes and hollywood-er than i expected
i came for the "X to doubt" and i ended up with a driving simulator with fantastical set-pieces large and small
ok so the tense action sequence music continued playing through the final scene, which is meant to have uh, appropriately sombre music instead. lmao
well, now i've finished l.a. noire. uhhh. it was fun. i recommend it.
i'm not sure how i feel about the plot lol
