i wanted to make a funny observation about the contrast between “nuance” and “shades of gray” if you speak swedish but then i discovered that there was some, ah, nuance i was missing to the swedish word for “nuance”. this is what i love about the world

ok so ”nyans” is the swedish word for “nuance”. it's borrowed from french of course.

i thought that this word meant “hue”, i.e. the property of a colour that red/green/blue/etc distinguish between, as opposed to saturation or brightness… hence shades of grey being funny
