jump to expanded postpersonal change is a funny thing. it would be easy for me to say i haven't changed at all in half a decade, but it's not true. when i came up with the current version of my personal myth like six years ago, i don't think i actually believed it, but now, maybe i do…
a twitter bio is a lie you tell yourself about who you want to be, that with some effort, might eventually be a truth
@hikari I think twitter bio is a bit reductive. The whole process of adopting a name, a handle, more generally, is tracing a path toward that ideal.
@neauoire oh, certainly, i'm just using it as a convenient and particularly legible example. hikari_no_yume
as a handle is imbued with a lot of meaning that i'm still discovering
@neauoire another thing that's part of this “myth”, i guess, is that the website i put up, https://hikari.noyu.me/, has this flying stars effect i'm really proud of, using WebGL. it's sort of a way to show off my graphics programming skills, but in truth, it was actually the first time i'd successfully written anything non-trivial in OpenGL — the skill i was demonstrating was one i had only acquired by the process of demonstrating it. and it ended up being useful in my career!
@hikari nothing knowing the backstory, everytime I see your name, I think of the song Toi & Moi by Mutyumu(夢中夢)
@neauoire thank you for telling me of this! i wasn't familiar with this artist or this song, but i think it'll be something i'll remember… what a great name they have
@hikari yeah, it fits with their whole storytelling style as well
