@hikari ah you're getting to the sluggish part of it, I haven't watched the 3rd season of it as it was so much later than season 2 that I forgotten all the political intrigue which made it hard to jump back in :(

very skilled players have a "sixth sense" that tells them when someone is looking at them – because the shared game world essentially uses foveated rendering but serverside, so you can tell when objects in your peripheral vision become more detailed due to another player's gaze

@hikari That's true, but I think also SAO is about a game that is sort of a fantasy of what games are. I think it's a game that a lot of people have wanted to make before realising there's no way it would work.

They are, effectively, a DM where the players always do what they're expected to, and what's more fantastical than that?

to me, the main contrast is that SAO's game world is far more cruel, while LH's players don't particularly seem to mind being stuck in a game and just carry on as usual lol
