sweden is great, the bureaucracy openly talks about the use of ”påtryckningsmedel”, which is literally “means of [exerting] pressure”, to encourage compliance. for example, fines. a delightfully clinical word; ”medel” is also used for “bleach” (”blekmedel” ~= “bleaching agent”)
to be fair it's also used for “food and drink” (”livsmedel”, the ”liv” means “life”, like in „Lebensmittel“)
