@hikari@social.noyu.me usually your browser exposes your preferred language to websites. that either is set on the os, or browser level. If there is multiple, it usually chooses the first one.

No idea if gotosocial actually does that though

sometimes we 特登 use a polyglot language mix, it's not like only 香港或者星加坡人 do that. and even if it were, that's millions of people

or, much more commonly, we see people post parallel texts in multiple languages (e.g. de+en)
