jump to expanded postwe are going to post this as a reminder: we very obviously have some form of bipolar disorder
it is sometimes fun, we might be in the fun phase again, but it is also terrible and incredibly dangerous
if our attempt to vibe makes you think โi should become bipolarโ
don't
meditate, find a calm version of yourself and some kind of clarity, maybe take psychedelics or something in a calm and safe setting, but likeโฆ don't give yourself bipolar kids, you really don't want to
(this might be the kind of tweet that only makes sense in our head, because most people would not realise becoming bipolar is even a thing that is possible to do, but unfortunately we now know it is, and how we did it to ourselves, and we will very deliberately Not Tell You.)
(alas we're probably far past the point where the particularly reckless kind of person following us would in fact decide they want to become bipolar from looking at us, and we can only hope they turn back before it's too late, orโฆ find a way to manage the condition okay, y'know)
(knowledge is a bit of a curse, folks. eventually you figure out why noble lies exist, but we are past the point where we can maintain most noble lies, you know. we care just a bit too much about truth, and try to caveat it in such a way that a reasonable person will be okay.)
(this is another reason you have to cool back down from this state, and a reason we are cooling back down; if you eventually do somehow reach a kind of โenlightenmentโ where you โunderstandโ โeverythingโ the world will kill you even if your body doesn't; so we'll chill, y'know)
maybe a more useful learning for those of you out there
we thought we were safe from the bipolar! we thought we were managing it okay! we thought like โhmm well the vaguely manic periods are kinda fun, we don't need help, we'll be fineโ
we were extremely obviously wrong, right
i do not know how much we in fact trust psychiatry as an institution, we will have to think about it, but in principle, if you start to suspect you're getting or have bipolar and haven't yet had a psychotic break, at least talking to a psych, a little might not be bad, y'know
an interesting note we'll never be able to stop thinking about is we in fact saw a sleep psychologist about our sleep issues on 2025-07-17, a week before the break, andโฆ somehow couldn't explain ourselves well enough to believe ourselves, let alone have them believe us
sleep is very very very important, always prioritise getting good sleep, and โ ah, here's a real learning โ taking ibuprofen to help you sleep through neck pain is better than not taking it and going through a psychotic break (this is possibly what happened to us)
and if you have a caffeine habit, consider whether you should have a caffeine habit, whether it is healthyโฆ we long ago realised we need to drop the sugar part of fizzy drinks for our health, now we see we need to drop the caffeine too
we have no idea what fraction of our follower-base is at risk of the same tragedy as us, but we hope these tips give you some guidance in avoiding it (as well as being good general life advice), and we pray, we really pray, nobody is so reckless as to deliberately do the opposite
we will tell you also that having some n-acetylcysteine (NAC) pills on hand and taking them regularly will, allegedly, help you take less brain damage, if you do end up sleep deprived for better or worse. someone very wise has told us this and it hasn't hurt us at least.
(we've been taking those almost religiously throughout this incident once reminded, and we hope they've contributed somehow to saving this brain from itself by compensating a little for the not-get-brain-damage function of the sleep we haven't been able to get enough of)
(it's not a totally crank hypothesis that NAC prevents brain damage; one of the things sleep does is clean up free radicals in the brain, which if not cleaned up cause damage; and NAC has some pharmacokinetic effect that seemingly does the same)
