yeah so turns out the person we live with already owns that album, very convenient
actually floored by how cool this album actually is, just from how it looks, how the liner notes are written and stuff… we've never listened to American Idiot (album) we believe, but like everyone who was alive in the 2000's, we of course are very familiar with some of the songs
like look at this shit dude. American Idiot by Green Day isn't a collection of mp3 files, it's an album! a concept album! we had no idea! that's so fucking cool!
i'm glad we've healed from being embarrassed about not having already listened to every single famous album ever and not already having opinions on them all, because with the beginner's mindset there are wonders around every corner
NOW EVERYBODY DO THE PROPAGANDA!
you'll have to forgive me for tweeting this one but this album is, you know, misunderstood, tragically
I WALK A LONELY ROAD
I'M WALKING DOWN THE LINE
THAT DIVIDES ME SOMEWHERE IN MY MIND
ON THE BORDERLINE OF THE EDGE
AND WHERE I WALK ALONE
READ BETWEEN THE LINES OF WHAT'S FUCKED UP AND EVERYTHING'S ALRIGHT
CHECK MY VITAL SIGNS TO KNOW I'M STILL ALIVE
AND I WALK ALONE
free yourself of cringe, and you too can have the experience of “American Idiot by Green Day came out yesterday and you're not that familiar with punk or concept albums and it has relevance to your current emotional state and you just bought the album on a whim” even in… 2025
let yourself be vulnerable to the music, damnit! that's what it's fucking for!
god this album is so fucking cool
we'll be so bold as to say that if you don't own the album on CD with the little booklet that all the lyrics are scrawled in, or haven't like obtained a PDF of it somehow or something similar, you haven't really experienced American Idiot, it's such an important part of it all
this is an album from an era when albums were real; it not only uses the booklet as part of the whole concept, it has gapless playback with carefully designed transitioned between songs; it's the kind of thing that like, yeah, sure, you Can “experience” it on streaming but… yea
this album must've oneshot a generation of kids who had that punk streak in them huh
“i made a point to burn all of the photographs”
take that nickelback (roflcopter.gif)
gods that was so cool
we're gonna have to re-listen a few times but i guess we can now say, without a hint of irony, in an entirely vulnerable and sincere way, that “American Idiot” by “Green Day” is one of our favourite albums
there's a lot more stuff we could've lyricsposted, every song has cool and meaningful stuff in it of course, but it's like… we're not trying to livetweet this really, so you'll have to live with the tiny scraps
