oh my fucking god it's because there are multiple overlapping devices in the drop-down list and you have to somehow know that โ€œLogitech USB Receiver Mouseโ€ doesn't do anything and โ€œLogitech M315/M235โ€ does. for reference I've only ever connected a single USB Logitech mouse

/usr/share/applications/org.gnome.Terminal.desktop is right there, next to /usr/share/applications/org.kde.konsole.desktop, so one would expect it to be findable from KDE's start menu, but only Konsole is. were they upset it'd rank higher for "Terminal"? come the fuck on :/

aaahahaha I fucking knew it, there is a concept of a "hidden entry" in the KDE menu and they even hide them from you by default when you use the KDE Menu Editor, so that you don't see what they did. this is ridiculous

okay I am being told that .desktop files can contain an OnlyShowIn whitelist of which desktop environments should show them, so it's either a GNOME or a Debian decision, and that does make some sense but man I don't like the Linux desktop experience
