dear google and apple: please stop silently filtering and annotating reviews based on the user's interface language. most of the world is bilingual! many people use their phone in english but would want to read or write a review in, say, swedish, or vice-versa! give us control!!!
NEW USCSB VIDEO LET'S GOOOO
โc is portable assemblyโ hasn't been true since optimising compilers appeared for it. it's an accurate description for those really simple (usually old) c compilers on the other handโฆ where for (;;) and while (1) are different and local variables aren't free. old c is so cute
rare swedish politics post: a cap on benefits is bad and sweden shouldn't follow the uk's lead on that, nor should it try to make out-of-work benefits harder to get. the rhetoric is about motivating people to work, but it's bad for people who work: it pushes down wages!
wait what. https://www.apple.com/apple-vision-pro/ says โUse AR to view Apple Vision Pro. Open this page using Safari on your iPhone or iPad.โ at the bottom when I'm not using Safari on my iPhoneโฆ but when I do, it's just, missing? there's no button for it anywhere??? anyone else get this?
i was sleep deprived when watching the announcement but now that i look back at it the Apple Vision Pro feels like a fucking fever dream.
I am trying to do a backup of my iPhone to my MacBook. it's around 90GB of data. there is not enough space on my MacBook's SSD, so I've made it go to an external, USB3 hard drive instead. copying the data to the PC took several hours, but the final step seems to take foreverโฆ

wanted to post on the VirtualBox forums and apparently that requires an Oracle account, so I go to make one andโฆ lmao, you have to specify your job title, company name and address, and work phone number. this is the most Oracle thing.
https://github.com/apple/swift/blob/main/docs/OwnershipManifesto.md has me like sickos.rs
just the other week, I was thinking it'd be great to have a language that's like a simplified Rust, with borrow checking in the easier cases, falling back to reference counting or GC for all the harder ones. it seems Swift might get there!
