how is this real lmao
(i'm misleading you slightly with my cropping)
ok but do they seriously do this EVERY TIME he starts speaking. what the hell. do you just hate subtitle users
(speaking in foreign language continues)
are you fucking kidding me
@hikari i appreciate the scientific integrity of not taking a guess at the language being spoken. This is what we look for when using formal methods.
@hikari This must be automated, right? There's no way sheβs saying β*She's* obviously a tense moment" either. She's saying β*Which is*"?
This shit is terrible, nobody seems to actually check the transcriptions. I'm seeing more and more just plain wrong subtitles, or the dialogue is transcribed in a way that totally misses jokes.
@hikari A while back I was watching an episode of Arrow where some people were speaking Arabic, which was translated on the screen for *non* subtitle users, but for subtitle users the translation was obscured by the subtitle "[speaking Arabic]".
@Catriona yeah that's exactly what's going on here and I hate it
@hikari The other thing I hate is kind of the opposite, where there's something primarily in a foreign language, which gets subtitled translation, but then there's the occasional line already in English that doesn't need translated and therefore doesn't get subtitled.
Not least because it's often English spoken with a heavy accent, but more importantly it's like a deliberate choice to exclude people who need subtitles for reasons other than not knowing the language.
@hikari they really hyping him up to become the new Castro Husein Osama
