‪btw coolest things i learned so far were:‬

‪- as a germanic language (/s) japanese has a word for everything. it not only has a noun for “dissolution of a club” (廃部) but also “on the verge of dissolution of a club” (廃部寸前)‬
‪- there's an ateji for クラブ ENDING IN 部 (倶楽部)‬

it's easy to learn japanese by watching anime. first just have already learned all the kana and the principles of the grammar fifteen years ago, and have been slowly acquiring bits and pieces over the years, but be someone who can't follow a course plan to save her own life,

‪god this is a lot of fun and i am learning an immense amount even if it does make the watching process take an absurdly long time (also it's fun because my gf is better at japanese verb conjugations than me and i can ask her for a second opinion when i struggle to hear something)‬

four episodes into improving my japanese by watching k-on without subtitles, this continues to be fun and rewarding, and also:

  • mio is hard to understand because her speech is too complicated
  • ritsu is hard to understand because her speech is too simple
  • yui's mouth is full,

feels like a milestone that i can fully appreciate a scene like that now, in real time (i did look up a few words the first run through, but not enough that i'm lost and having to impose a separately remembered whole-sentence translation onto it, if that makes sense)
