nisioisin character writing is always like βah, you see, araragi-kun. that's a china's apple. or perhaps an Appelsine, or even Citrus Γ sinensisβ¦ γ€γΎγγ it's what would be called an orange.
and then the translators are forced to make it like
βah, that's a lemon, or lime, orβ
monogatari is at once very possible to translate and utterly impossible to translate. it is crack for our linguistic autist brain. no wonder we like it so much
