this scene from nekomonogatari shiro episode 2, where senjougahara figures out hanekawa has no taste in a broad sense, is very necessary watching.

good lord, the scene at the start of the following episode, where senjougahara explains that hanekawa is different from araragi in that she acts as if she doesn't even realise being goodhearted is dangerous, is even worse. “you're too white[hearted]”.

the MTBB full-season batch of monogatari is good in many ways but man we do not like some of these translation choices. i think a lot of it is commie's fault. like come on you can't turn “shota koyomi” into “little koyomi” you're removing the flavour in what shinobu actually said

I've been marathoning Hanamonogatari in the small hours of this morning because I've been needing it. Your girl isâ€Ļ well, whether she's Kanbaru Suruga そぎもぎ, or just hikari the kinnieâ€Ļ definitely someone with a special relationship to this anime series, to put it one way.

our habitual curiosity about what japanese words characters are actually saying is constantly revealing just how much is lost by translating monogatari into english. for example, araragi uses an idiom coming from kabuki (čŒļį•Ē) and tadatsuru responds another in kind (十å…Ģį•Ē)
